One cold night, just before Halloween 2009, my family left me in a concrete kennel at the shelter. They left a note for the staff saying that they had found me a few years ago and no longer wanted to keep me. I was heavily pregnant and began whelping my three pups right there, in that scary, dark and cold cage.

When the staff noticed this, they called CTDR and an urgent plea was sent out to all the volunteers. That very day, my pups and I were taken to the vet and thoroughly checked out. That afternoon, we were in a warm house and finally safe. I was able to relax and begin being a new mom. I worked really hard and took the very best care of my puppies. But all too soon, they grew up and were ready to find homes of their own.

I have good manners and get along well with everyone I meet. I sleep quietly in my kennel and can be trusted in the house. My only wish is to find a place where I can live out my days in comfort, love and safety. After all I have been through, I still believe there exists such a place. I know that somewhere out there, there is a person who has been waiting for me too!

UPDATE

I am seeing the world through a different eye now. When I was left at the shelter, I had a very severe eye condition and couldn't even blink my right eye. My foster mom put ointment in it constantly to keep it from drying out and to try to keep me comfortable. I couldn't have surgery right away because I had a brand new litter of puppies to care for, so I had to wait...and suffer. Now that my pups have grown up, it was time to see the doctor. I was spayed and had that troublesome eye removed. I am recovering from my surgery and am so glad I have a warm place to rest while I work on getting better.

My foster mom always told me that I was a beautiful girl. Now, she tells me I am even more beautiful. She pets me gently and whispers to me that I am very brave. It has been very hard to go through all I have seen, so it is comforting to know that I can still be loved, even when I don't look like everyone else.

But what really makes me special is not the fact that I only have one eye! I am special because I am brave, loyal and loving. If you are looking for a friend with those qualities, and can appreciate my unique appearance, won't you let me know? All you need to do is fill out an application to meet me. After that, we could start living our life together. I might even consider letting you dress me up as a pirate for Halloween!

UPDATE

I'm fully recovered from my eye removal and have learned to adjust to my new way of seeing! My manners are great and I can be trusted in the house when you are away. Just be sure to leave me a nice doggie bed, or blanket on the couch. I'll just cuddle there and wait for you to return!

I get along great with other dogs, but would also do well as an only pet. I don't mind kitties and hardly ever let out a bark! I'm a quiet, sweet little lady with a loving personality and a positive attitude. I'm easy going and content. I don't need much more than a kind word and a warm lap. Have you been looking for someone just like me? When you finally find me, my journey will be complete!
