I'm a gentle, older lady with a loving personality. I walk nicely on a leash and really enjoy going for a stroll. I'm unique in appearance, and even more special in my good manners.

A nice lady from the rescue came to the clinic today. She took me out for a walk in the sunshine. I gave her lots of kisses and did my business quickly. She kept telling me how precious I am, and pet me gently on the head. It felt good to feel loved again.

I hope to have a foster home soon and get back to living a normal life. I really belong in a home where I can share love and affection. If you want a sweet older lady with great manners and love to share, won't you consider meeting me soon? I bet your home would be perfect for me!

UPDATE

A warm bed and a comforting smile. These are a few of my favorite things! Its been a while since I was able to enjoy this security and I'm so very grateful my life has been deemed worth saving. I don't look like every other dachshund I see passing by on a walk with their family. I have to wonder what qualities they have that I was lacking! They have homes where people care for them, take them to the doctor, stroke them lovingly and speak sweet words in their ears. Those are all things I never thought I'd see offered to me. But, I have wisdom, a calm, attentive manner and a special affection that exudes my appreciation for my second chance at life!

I'm told I have the dreaded heartworm disease. Luckily, the test showed it to be a milder case. These invaders have left me with a heart murmur and a mild cough. I hear the people say that it is a shame any dog has to endure this disease. A simple treat, once a month, is all it takes to avoid it. As with all the dogs I've met, I love a good treat and would have gratefully taken that medicine.

The secrets of my past stay deeply hidden inside my soul. I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me because I have missed out on some of the finer things in a dog's life. I'd rather focus on living a positive future and display my affection for the love and kindness now showed to me. I really enjoy sharing affection and my happiness overflows and makes my tail wag constantly. I am committed to proving I am deserving of this second chance and hope a forever home will allow me to finally enjoy the things I have missed out on over the years. There must be a place just waiting to welcome me into my own version of happily ever after. Won't you take a moment to consider the great joys a mature lady like me has to offer? I have a true appreciation for the simple things in life and would never take them for granted! A lap to snuggle, a treat to enjoy, a place to live... these are a few more of my favorite things!
