Sarge:  Hospice

Sarge arrived at CTDR in September 2007 and he has made himself at home with his foster family. He is currently residing with his dachshund brother Skippy, sister Trixie, and Australian Shepherd sister Kaiya. He is the most easygoing guy and will fall in love with anyone willing to give him attention. Dinner and lap time are what he looks forward to most in life. He is currently heartworm positive and with his age and medical status, he is too high risk to treat. As a result of longterm heartworm disease, he has developed chronic bronchitis and requires daily medication to keep his cough under control. When he was first rescued, CTDR's veterinarian ran bloodwork and discovered that he also has a mild case of liver disease. He must remain on liver supportive drugs that help prevent the disease from progressing. Even though Sarge is on a few medications, and is medically required to be a couch potato (which he doesn't mind), he is your typical sweet and loving dachshund who will put a smile on anyone's face.
