About Doc

  • Status: Adopted!

  • General Color: Brown/Chocolate with Tan
  • Current Size: 18 Pounds
  • Current Age: 9 Years 4 Months (best estimate)
  • Reaction to New People: Friendly

Doc is a young, very energetic dog who is eager to please.  He just has to be shown how. A good example is chewing.  At times, Doc has to be re-directed from an inappropriate chewing object to one better suited to dogs.  Doc transfers to the toy seamlessly but he still requires monitoring,  Until he becomes more mature, it’s wise to keep any and all chewing temptations out of his reach.  Doc needs plenty of open space so he can burn off his high energy level . Playing fetch with him is a good start but Doc much prefers the companionship of another dog his age/energy level.  Playing is Job One with Doc but he needs help doing it. At 18 pounds, Doc could stand to gain a couple pounds to look his best.  His coat is that of a healthy dog: thick and shiny.  One thing Doc will never be is overweight: he’ll burn off any excess pounds. Doc catches on quickly to what is expected of him.  Good behavior needs to be reinforced with praise and consistency.  He lives for the words “Good Boy”. Doc does best on a potty schedule.  At his foster’s he caught on to going outdoors first thing in the morning with the rest of the pack.  He has not learned to ask to go outside on his own yet but he will get there with more training time. The main characteristics of Doc are energetic and eager to make you happy.  He loves to be held in your arms but only for a short while.  There is way too much running and playing to accomplish to linger too long.  But don’t worry: he’ll be back in a few.
