UPDATE:
, She’s doing great, its taken A LOT of work and she is still pretty timid but a completely different dog from the one I picked up in the sales parking lot, she is now 100% potty/pad trained she will walk on a leash as long as it’s attached to a harness and not a collar, she takes treats from my hands now and actually runs and plays like a dog should she has manners now and listens well to commands and loves just being next to you and snuggling under the blankies, she does not like to be alone, absolutely hates it, but as long as there is another canine companion with her she is content
Lilah Rose is perfect! I can not even find expressive enough words to accurately depict how wonderful this little girl is! I picked her up as an extremely terrified practically feral little chiweenie, from her reaction to me she easily could have thought she was being abducted by aliens! Despite being absolutely terrified Lilah Rose never once offered to bite or nip not even at a doctors appointment, for xrays or blood draws, she lets me bathe her, trim her nails, and even enjoys wearing clothes. my little chihuahua junior has been her biggest allie on this adventure and definitely helped her realize which side the bread was buttered on! she basically just mimicked him until she was comfortable enough to show her own personality, It took about two weeks before she was actually wanting to be pet but it only took her about 24 hrs to attach to me like velcro and has been joined to my hip ever since! she has such a beautiful soul, she went from semi-feral street dog to a grade-a cuddle machine who very much enjoys being snuggled next to you under the blankets, in just a matter of weeks! she is still skittish per say and it takes her time to warm up to new people but we have been relentlessly working on socialization and going to work with me seems to have helped a lot, I don’t know what her story is or how she ended up abandoned in a car lot but what ever happened to her definitely took a toll on her trust for humans! Lilah Rose is not very treat motivated, so it’s been a process with gaining her trust and getting her acclimated to living in a home and just being a pampered pouch in general but she is now crate trained, potty/pad trained, she loads in the car effortlessly, she is still terrified of a leash but her recall is impeccable and she is very much “in your pocket” so I haven’t really pushed my limits with that. Her leg fracture is 100% healed ….it didn’t heal appropriately and probably will be forever wonky but gabapentin seems to be adequate pain management and she runs like she should have been a grey hound instead of a chiweenie! she enjoys running around and play with other little dogs (she interacts well and socializes with big ones but they definitely aren’t her favorite, there is still some fear there and she just needs a proper introduction a little reassurance and she has no issues) she LOVES TOYS especially toys that honk and have ropes on them! she is definitely a steal of a little dog and deserves as much love in return as she has stuffed in her tiny little body!
Lila Rose came into Rescue after being found by a CTDR foster in the parking lot of a car dealership. She appeared to have a hurt leg and the foster just could not leave her. She has been on strict restriction to give her leg a chance to heal. She has now had all of her vetting and is ready to find her forever home. As you can see by her pictures, she loves to dress up and just be a cute little girl. If interested in Lila Rose, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org.
