He is working on housetraining. He will go outside when you tell him to; however, while home alone or during the night, he will go in the house. He knows it is wrong and hides after doing it.
He has shown no aggression towards small dogs. He has been with us about 4-5 weeks and has done great with all the dogs.
He does love to run, go for car rides and to the dog park. He will be great in a home as an only dog or hopefully with other dogs. He does love to cuddle and be with his person. He is very protective of whoever he has bonded to. At first he would only come to me and followed me everywhere.
Over the past three months Oscar has changed from semi-aggressive towards other dogs to a lot more friendly and accepting. He seems to get a long well with larger dogs much more than smaller ones. He has a kind heart but is seemingly protective of his foster and other humans he knows. He does get along well with smaller dogs given some time to play around and a sharp eye. He has lost weight to around 17 lbs from his beginning weight of more than 20 lbs. He is really awesome an dog to run with especially for a smaller dog. He has learned to be more playful and energetic in the house which was rare at first. As ever he is one of the cutest dachshunds we have ever seen. He is extremely friendly to all humans, even kids. He will snuggle with you all day without moving and loves to sit in your lap.
Oscar is a friendly and loving dachshund. He craves attention and will snuggle with you all day if you want him to. He is a good runner and is extremely excited about going for walks. He rarely barks and is a relatively docile dog. Oscar will miss you while you are gone and treasure you when you are there. He has a big heart and is extremely loyal, attaching to you in under a day. We recommend this big guy for anyone who is home a lot and has time to give this dog the attention he needs. One last thing to note, he may get defensive when a dog gets in his face to play or otherwise though this is a rare occurrence.
