Jesse is a great dog that will make someone a loyal, fun and VERY ENTERTAINING companion. He's an excellent lap dog and might as well be a professional snuggler. He is 4 years old but has a permanent puppy face and puppy playfulness. (Sometime he looks like a jackrabbit when he runs and has cat-like characteristics when he plays. He's super sweet.) This very healthy, happy and active boy loves to run like the wind.  He loves to play with toys, chase squirrels and go for walks. He also plays with our younger dog Papi, and pretty much leaves our senior dachshund alone, except to get in his bed with him  occasionally. He's a sweet boy and who knows his name and so far he only knows one command, "come" (30 second video here: http://youtu.be/NX-B2QtPLWo) But, he is smart and eager to learn more. When Jesse came to us (his foster family) he was meek, mild, injured and frightened. But after having food, shelter, rest and lots of love, his personality (and his body) have completely changed. We are happy to announce that Jesse has blossomed and has gained a ton of confidence.  In fact, sometimes thinks he's a guard dog! We took him to a trainer recently for a consultation and she said that he's now a little OVER confident!  :) You would need to meet Jesse to really appreciate his personality, he's adorably goofy and very loving. If given a chance he will kiss you inside your ears and sometimes he tries to nibble on my husband's beard. :) The last time I walked him around Lady Bird Lake more than one person commented on how happy he looked. I really get the sense that he's grateful that he was rescued and he's happy to be safe and not be wandering the streets any more. He loves to have another dog to play with and hang out with.  He loves to run in the yard, and since he can't be trusted off leash, it's his only way to run free. So it's important he has a yard at his new home. Jesse can not be trusted off the leash yet, and maybe he never will. He's very curious and although he knows the "come" command he gets sidetracked by squirrels, etc...In fact, Jesse would most likely jump out a moving car window if given the chance, he just too excited and curious about EVERYTHING! When he's not in play mode, he's happy to be mellow and rest and snuggle. DETAILS ABOUT EARLY MONTHS WITH JESSE: When Jesse came to us he was very scared and very injured. He had a front leg limp and a back leg limp. The doctor's took many X-rays and carefully looked him over. The great news was they said his spine was strong and healthy. It was his left front shoulder that was in question. The doctor couldn't say for sure if it would ever completely heal. ( BUT IT HAS!!!!!) For the first couple months he took anti-inflammatory pills and pain medication and we kept him very inactive, which was easy because he didn't play with our dog Papi at all. Oh, and he had just been fixed so was also hurting down there too. But now, he's as healthy as they come, read above! He has no limp at all and is 110% healed!
