UPDATE 12-28-2013

Miss Scarlett is a beautiful red piebald whose legs are a little long and her ears are a little short, and her fur is really soft!  "Bitty Boo" (as I call her) is a real snuggly, cuddly, lover dog!  Her favorite activities besides running, are snuggling and cuddling with her "peeps", laying on their chest as you watch TV together, and giving kisses! She has become my shadow and if I am not careful I will step on her, since she is right there, one step behind me, always ready for a new adventure!  She  has become quickly attached to me, her Human, and has become very protective of me.  She has tried to herd the other dogs away from me, and growled when they got close to me.  While in foster care I have worked with her on this behavior and she is doing much better. She probably has not known security in her previous surroundings and with consistent love and attention, she is becoming more secure and more tolerant of others around her. She loves to run and to play with another dog about her size and age but does try to dominate them.  She would do well with a dog buddy in her new home to keep her company when no one is home which will remind her she has not been left alone or abandoned.

We don't know her background, but her behavior suggests that she has been at least neglected and probably abused to some degree and possibly starved. She is  very inquisitive but can be timid and startles extremely  easily. When she startles,  or is verbally corrected, she immediately flattens out on her belly then rolls over in a submissive posture.  If she is sufficiently scared, she may urinate on herself. When she is praised, you can tell she is just so proud of herself for doing something well!  She wiggles and dances all over the place!  Her tail goes a mile a minute, she smiles and makes little sounds of pleasure and runs up to be picked up and petted!  She has started to bring me little items that she finds, like a leaf, a paper towel, a sock, so that she can be praised for doing a good job and she can do her happy dance!

She has a tendency to "hoard" her toys and items she finds, such as towels, socks, toilet paper rolls and keeps them in her "hiding spot" which is currently under the living room table. She will hoard food treats also, and eat them at her leisure. "BittyBoo" is very thin and needs to put on a few pounds with some good quality food.  Surprisingly, she is not food aggressive, but will calmly eat out of her bowl and allow other dogs to eat out of her bowl. I can put my hand into her bowl while she is eating to add food or remove food and she allows me to do that by stepping back and watching me.  She will  make the rounds of the food bowls, several times a day, checking to see if there is any food in the bowls.

Scarlett is working well on becoming house broken and walks pretty good on a leash. She is calm and quiet in her crate and will sleep there all night, although she prefers to sleep in the big bed with her human and the other pups.  She sleeps quietly, curled up next to her human, under the covers, all night until told to get up to go outside.  She is working on her doggie manners and knows "sit" and we are working on "Off" and "wait".

Scarlett is an ALPHA personality and will try to dominate the other dogs in the house and has tried to prevent them from getting near me. She will play with one or two of her toys and share those toys with the other dog she is playing with, but doesn't want the other dogs to mess with her "stash" and will growl at the offender. She has had a couple "skirmishes" with the other dogs in the house as she is trying to determine her place and rank in the pack, and as she learns to deal with her insecurity.  She expresses her dominate personality with other dogs in the home both male and female.  Scarlett will need a firm human "pack leader" in the home to make sure she maintains her place within the pack. She is extremely intelligent, learns quickly and will easily take direction from her Human.

Miss Scarlett, the "Little BittyBoo", has had a rough start to her life.  Her behavior seems to indicate that she was neglected and possibly abused. This intelligent, loving, little furface did not deserve that, and now needs a loving, stable, forever family that she can call her own and  to help her make up for the lost time.  The only thing she asks for is a someone to love her, to be patient with her, to give her a good quality food, and a Safe and warm place to sleep.  She promises to always do her best, to be your protector and greet you with a wagging tail, a smile on her face, lots of kisses and a happy Dance!  Do you have a little room in your heart and home for this little "Bitty Boo"?

My name is Scarlett! I am a busy body. If there is something going on in the house I will be right in the middle of it giving my 2 cents about the situation. My favorite spot is on the back of the couch so I can keep an eye on everything going on. I like to keep my foster brothers in line and can be a little alpha dominant to try and get my way. I have really long legs and love to run. I am high energy, but don’t bark too much. I am house trained and crate trained. I love to sleep with my people. I am just so thankful to have someone to share my love with. I would do better in a home with just a couple of dogs as I tend to be a little Alpha female with other dogs in the home. If you think I might make a great addition to your family won’t you put an application in on me?
