Little Miss Kari, is really coming out of her shell, now that she feels safe, and loved, and the pain from surgery has decreased. She is still on pain meds and antibiotics for a while yet, to make sure she is fully recovered, but she is acting so much more like a happy little girl. Kari seems to be a happy, intelligent little girl. She is very quiet and has not barked at all. She is small and stocky but not overweight. It is expected that with a little exercise, she will slim down a little bit. She seems to have recently given birth to a litter of puppies and is carrying that "puppy weight" around. Kari has bonded with her foster Mom and follows her around everywhere. She has become very loving, and attention seeking and loves to give kisses and have her head and neck rubbed. She really has turned into a snuggle bunny and wants nothing more then to be by your side or in your lap! She really loves sleeping in the Big Bed beside her foster Mom with her head on her Moms shoulder! Kari can be demanding when she wants attention, and can be a little stubborn when told, "No, she has to wait". She can be jealous of other dogs receiving attention from her Foster Mom and will sometimes growl at the other dogs if they approach while she is getting attention. She is easy to correct in this situation with a firm "NO". This attention seeking is quite understandable considering her previous life that has so recently been left behind. She is still nervous around new situations, new people and loud noises. Kari is starting to seek security from her Foster Mom and other dogs in the house and not hide in her crate. She has also bonded with one of the other foster dogs in the home and follows him around, and has learned the house rules from emulating him. She doesn't seem to be the type of dog that "plays" with other dogs, but does seem to draw a little confidence being around other dogs in the home. She is able to entertain herself but does love to tear up her own stuffies and spread the stuffing around! She has not chewed or destroyed anything except what she has been given to destroy. She wants to wrestle with her foster Mom, but is not being allowed at this, due to recovering from abdominal surgery. Kari is walking well on a leash, and seems to be mostly house trained. She will go to the door when she needs to go outside. She has also used a potty pad when unable to get outside. She is crate trained. At this time, she has not been exposed to children or to cats. She has seen other larger dogs from a short distance and did not react. She was not allowed into physical contact with the other dogs. Kari is not food aggressive and will allow others to place their hand into her food bowl. She does growl at other dogs that come too close while she eats. She is kind of a slow eater and will need to be given time and space to eat if another dog is in the home. Kari would do well in either a house or an apartment. The perfect home for Kari would be a fairly quiet home, where she could be either an "only dog" or perhaps a home with one other dog so she doesn't have to share attention a lot. Her new family will need to be patient and compassionate with Kari as she learns to live in a totally different world then she has previously known. But they will also need to be firm and consistent with her as she makes the transition from Breeding machine to loving member of a family. Kari would probably do better in a home with No children. Kari has been a breeding machine her entire life. It is time that she is retired from that, and time for her to be a loved member of a great family. Kari is quiet, small, doesn't take up much room, doesn't eat much, and only wants to be given the love that she so deserves. In return, Kari will be your devoted partner and shower you with love and attention. She will greet you at your door when you return home with a smile on her face and wagging tail! Do you have a little time and little room to show a beautiful little girl that humans are good and loving and to ensure she will never, ever, face abuse or neglect again??
