Lady Sybil is a super-cute little dog, weighing in at about 11 pounds. She has a very cute face and those beautiful brown dachshund eyes. The shelter staff estimated her age at 6 years, but after a thorough examination CTDR’s vet estimated her age at about 3, and definitely less than 4. She is quite busy and always wants to see what is going on in the house. She is in excellent health, with a soft, silky coat and nice clean teeth. She was spayed before coming to CTDR, and it is apparent that she never had any puppies. She appears to have been well cared-for, and it is amazing that she ended up at the shelter as a stray and nobody came looking for her!
Sybil is very sweet and personable. She is very friendly with all people including kids, and loves to meet new people. She is doing well with the two male dachshunds in her foster home, although she is a little possessive of toys and bones. She loves to cuddle up next to someone on the couch and she sneaks kisses whenever she can. She is housetrained and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She does well on a leash and enjoys going for fast walks every morning and evening. She is not bothered by other dogs that she encounters on walks, but she will try to chase squirrels and she is very interested in cats when she sees them. She probably should be in a home without cats. She does like as much attention as she can get, and she is sad when people leave the house or when the other dogs go for a walk without her. She gets walked by herself so as not to pick up some of the bad habits that her foster brothers have on walks. She will bark when someone comes to the door, but she is not an excessive barker by any means.
Overall, she is a pleasure to have in the home and she will make a great companion for a lucky CTDR adopter. She would do well with a family or with just one or two people, but she probably would not do well with being left alone for long periods every day. She will need to go to a home where she will get the attention she craves, as she does like to be near her people all the time. A little girl this cute won’t be in rescue for long, so if you have the time and love to share with her, get your application in now!
