Norman is looking for someone to give him the chance at a new life in a home with plenty of love to give. We have seen much change in him as he is learning what a safe and loving environment is all about. He was once fearful and guarded, skin and bones, and in survival mode. His skin and scrapes have healed, he has filled out a bit and now enjoys relaxing in the sun in the back yard, snuggling on the couch and walks in the neighborhood. He is a smart boy, learned his name and the doggy door system within a few days. He walks really well on a leash and passes barking neighbor dogs without a glance. He has discovered how fun a kong can be. He loves to chew on it searching for treats hidden inside and will at times bring it to you for a game of fetch when its empty. He has been friendly greeting visitors in our home. He is good with older kids who know how to be gentle and understand boundaries, he recently had a great game of kong fetch with my 9 year old niece. He is fine with dogs both big and small but doesn't seem too interested in playing with them and at times will guard his toys. After a few minutes of initial whimpering he will sleep quietly in his kennel all night but would much rather snuggle in bed with you under the covers. He is learning how to sit and is very food driven so positive reinforcement is working well with him. He is a rather quiet independent little fellow, is not too fond of being held at times, but does enjoy being next to you or in your lap on the couch and getting neck scratches and pets. Norman
is clearly overcoming a past that may have been abusive, as there are some triggers that cause him to react in fear, We are continuing to work with him to help him be confident and teach him good manners. He is so excited to see us when we return home I can tell he is on the right path. His new human will need to be willing to continue with his training and growth, but will be rewarded with a great little guy.
