"DJ is a 13 year old male who was surrendered by his owners simply for being an older dog. He is a sweet boy who loves nothing more than to be in your lap. He barks when he wants something (to go outside to potty, if he's hungry, or if wants his bed and blankie!). He is potty trained and sleeps in a dog bed right next to ours every night. We have 7 other dogs as well as two cats, and he does well with all of them. He likes it more when they are calm though, and will try to referee by barking when the others get too rambunctious! He is heartworm negative and up-to-date on all of his vaccines. He was riddled with fleas which caused him to have some hair loss down his back and on his tail, but it is growing back slowly. He was also about 2lbs underweight when he was surrendered which is a lot when you only weigh 10lbs! He has some bad teeth and he isn't neutered yet, but both will be addressed as soon as he has gained enough weight to go under anesthesia. His vision is good and he can hear, although you have to talk a little louder to him. He would be best suited in a home without children, or with children who are older as he does not like all the excitement and noise that comes along with younger kids. He is also very wary of strangers, and it takes him a little bit to warm up to people. Once he does though, you have to be careful because he will steal your heart!"
