Meet BeBe! She is approximately 5 years old and had one owner her entire life. She lost the use of her back legs and her owners were going to have her euthanized if a rescue was not able to take her. Thankfully, CTDR stepped up and she is now on the mend! She is receiving acupuncture in addition to her steroid medication, and she is holding her own weight up and walking a few steps to potty. Some not-so-great news is that she tested positive for heartworms, but we have already started a slow-kill treatment! Some good news though is that her teeth are beautiful. I have never seen a dachshund even half her age that didn't have a few bad teeth if they were not given routine dentals, but hers are pearly white! She was used to getting table scraps for the majority of her meals so she was not a fan of dog food when she first came to our house. She has slowly come around and she eats pretty well now! Her absolute favorite thing to do is snuggle. We have 3 other dachshunds, along with a chihuahua, a lab, and an aussie mix, and she does great with all of them! She looks at the two cats like she has no clue what they are, but she just ignores them for the most part. She has the most pleasant disposition and my husband and I both are so in love with her. She was a bit shy at first and seemed a little stressed, but she has quickly warmed up to us. She likes to give kisses sometimes, and petting her soft coat will put you to sleep quick!
